Garden Tour: Karen's Tuscan Food Forest

I've had the pleasure of working with Karen for several years now. She contacted me to help her create her food forest and she had already sheet mulched over a large portion of her backyard. She had a lot of plants in pots but didn't know where to plant them. She now has a thriving and diverse orchard including apple, plum, aronia, serviceberry, currants, grapes, honeyberries, raised beds, cattle panel arbors, and much more. The orchard is underplanted with beneficial plants such as comfrey, calendula and chives. We have also worked on the front and side yards to expand her urban farm and she is getting ready to put in a greenhouse soon.

Karen is a composting queen and has two large indoor worm bins as well as several composting bins and makes all of her own fertilizer. She also grows a lot of her own produce from vegetable scraps…
