Akebia quinata (Five Leaf Akebia - Deep Purple): If you've been to my food forest, this is the vine I have over my apple tree Belgian fence. Dainty but prolific burgundy colored flowers bloom in spring. Fruits are flat, purple pods - but generally you need two to produce fruit. Five rounded leaflets make up the leaves, which area semi-evergreen. Full sun to partial shade. Mature Ht. 20-40ft requires a trellis or arbor.
