Sambucus nigra. Striking purple foliage is adorned with profuse pink edible flowers in spring turning to black elderberry fruit in summer. The fruit is used to create syrups that are loaded with antioxidants and vitamins.
This large shrub grows to over 10’ tall and can get up to 8’ wide as well but can be pruned aggressively in the dormant season. Full to half day sun. Plant with another variety of S. nigra for best fruit production.
