Nasturtium, Vanilla berry

Carefree nasturtiums with buttercream-colored blossoms, each marked at the throat with a delicate etching in deep strawberry. These top setting, spurred flowers shine above blue-green lilypad-shaped leaves, and hummingbirds love their nectar. 
 
Nasturtiums are my favorite edible flowers (I think I say that about all edible flowers). They are beautiful cascading over the edges of raised beds and planters or in hanging baskets. The leaves and the flower are edible and are striking and surprising additions to a garden salad with a distinct peppery flavor. Nasturtiums are also great as a companion plant and "trap crop" for aphids. Plant enough to share!
