Matteuccia struthiopteris (Ostrich fern). Beautiful and edible shade garden must-have. New spring growth, or fiddleheads, can be cooked like asparagus. Please do your own research before consuming. Prefers a a shady to part sun spot in the
garden. Height 3-5 feet with a 3-4 foot spread.
Fronds will die back in winter. For a cleaner look they can be cut back then or before the new fronds emerge in spring.
