Athyrium filix-femina 'Lady in Red' (Red-Stemmed Lady Fern). One of our PNW native ferns. Bright green fronds with flirty red stems form a dense upright clump. Vigorous and easy to grow. Fronds make a nice addition to flower bouquets. New spring growth, or fiddleheads, can be cooked like asparagus. Please do your own research before consuming. Prefers a spot with partial shade. Height 2-3 feet.
Fronds will die back in winter. For a cleaner look they can be cut back then or before the new fronds emerge in spring.
