What's a garden without garden sage? Not only does it provide year round interest and wonderful flowers for pollinators in the summer, sage is also a remarkably diverse plant, both herb and medicine. If you have not read up on the health benefits of sage, you will be surprised to learn that sage is high in antioxidants and has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory compounds.
Sage leaves can be used fresh for cooking and for tea, and for other medicinal recipes (such as mouthwash). I dry sage leaves in a small table top dehydrator for use as seasoning (my favorite with butternut squash) and to add to herbal tea mixes.
