Tomato, Gardener’s Sweetheart

65 days. Indeterminate. This adorable little tomato has a lot to offer and quickly became a favorite field snack. Cute, heart-shaped fruit are large for a cherry with a really good firm texture and a lovely sweetness to match. Gardener’s Sweetheart has vigorous plants that produce long trusses of split-resistant fruit. Bred by Will Bonsall in Maine from a cross between a cherry and a paste, and released in 2014. 
 
Row cover may be used for extra warmth and possible earlier fruit set. Irregular watering can result in blossom end rot. Plant deeply to encourage healthy root structure.
 
Indeterminate varieties may benefit from pruning suckers to encourage air flow, plant health, and energy towards plant top and fruit. Will need trellising or large tomato cage.
