Gardening 101 Videos

Beginning in 2020, at the start of the pandemic stay at home orders and influx of new gardeners, I had the privilege of working with the City of Lynnwood to create a series of gardening videos. These videos were primarily made for new and beginning gardeners to help demystify some of the often overlooked gardening basics such as watering and harvesting.

Here are just a few of the videos plus a link to the city's gardening resources page with all the videos and some valuable resources. Enjoy!

Too much water can kill!

Watering - #1 reason for plant issues

You can learn how and what to plant when, but gardening books and videos seldom talk about proper watering techniques. Yes, there is a proper way to water your garden! Both overwatering and underwatering can cause issues and premature death. In this video you will learn how to tell when your plants need watering and how to properly water your garden.

Direct Seeding

Learn how and what vegetables to start from seed directly in the garden. This video also covers succession planting and broadcast seeding to grow baby greens for repeated harvests.

Harvesting Salad Greens

Now that you've direct seeded your lettuce and spinach, learn various ways to harvest to ensure multiple harvests by using the cut-and-come-again method. There is also a second video on harvesting summer crops, check out the City of Lynnwood's Gardening Resources page for more videos (link below).

More gardening tips videos available to watch on the City of Lynnwood's gardening resources page, including Summer Gardening. Also, check out the resources which include handouts on sheet mulching to turn your grass lawn into an edible food forest. Together we grow!
